Our Reed Beds

Ried Fuchsenrand (Oberndorf)

Fuchsenrand ist a cool, windy location on the Oberndorf High-Plateau. The soils consist principally of chalky marine sediment and loam. All properties that lend themselves to the distinctive, cool fragrances of the Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling.

Ried Kogl

Ried Kogelberg (Oberndorf)

Kogelberg is the western foothill region of Ried Fuchsenrand reaching as far as Kellergasse. The soil is more substantial and diverse. Far below oncophorus soil, above Hollenburg conglomerate and a thin layer of loam. This noticeably increases the mineralogy of the Riesling and Grüner Veltliner wines.

Ried Bergern Wagram

Ried Bergern (Wagram )

As can only be expected from Wagram, the dominant soil type is loam. Flawless with a depth of several metres. Grüner Veltliner and Sauvignon Blanc profit from this and display loam typical characteristics of the purest form.

Ried Lichtwert & Ried Wiege (St. Andrä)

Lichtwert and Wiege are as good as the secret tips amongst the reed beds. On the surface they do not appear to be anything special, but a secret lying hidden below makes them unique in Austria. Flawless, crystalline oncophorus soil, fine primeval rock worn down by water, which, originating in Bavaria, formed deposits in Traisental. The wines from these sites, Grüner Veltliner with Riesling to be added in the future, are harmonious and mature just that little bit quicker.
